Open CCI is a programme addressed to citizens of Gdańsk wanting to put on their own interesting cultural or socio-cultural event in the City Culture Institute. The organizers may count on the support of CCI’s employees in terms of promotion and preparation – and obtain a grant of up to PLN 4,000. The next call for proposals opens on January 13th and lasts until 4 p.m. on January 30th, 2020.

Open CCI is a programme that allows organizers of cultural events to bring their ideas to life with the knowledge, financial and technical support offered by the City Culture Institute. The programme was launched four years ago. Throughout that time, 218 events for more than 61,000 people took place within its framework. The CCI encourages other active citizens to submit their proposals and ideas for action.

“Open CCI has already seen events organised by NGOs, informal groups, cultural institutions, activists, artists, students (with the support of their schools), musicians, experienced writers as well as individual persons, including citizens of Gdańsk hailing from Turkey, Ukraine or Uzbekistan. The projects are often open to the needs of people with disabilities,” says Katarzyna Buczek, coordinator of the Open CCI programme.

In 2019, we organized a total of four open calls for project proposals. The events took place in CCI’s seat on Długi Targ, but also on Kobzdeja Square (series of events associated with the Celebration of Freedom and Solidarity) and in the Siedlce district of Gdańsk (with the support of the National Centre for Culture). A video documentary of these editions is available on the project’s website:  http://otwarty.ikm.gda.pl/multimedia/.

Open call to Open CCI 2020

“In 2020, we continue the open call for actions taking place on Mondays and Fridays in the CCI building. The maximum grant available for a single project is PLN 4,000 gross,” explains Katarzyna Buczek.

Apart from financial support, organisers may count on the support and knowledge of CCI employees in promotional, legal or other organisational matters. The CCI space is available on Mondays and Fridays between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., and the CCI also makes the following available at no additional cost: projector, screen, seats, tables, Thermos flasks and single-use cups.
